Into the Blue
My interest in the power of color and its ability to evoke emotions is central to my artistic work. The solo exhibition at Galleri Langegården explores ultramarine and cobalt blue through in-depth studies of single colors and their capacity to generate energy and touch the viewer. Elements of nature are integrated as textures, forms, and drawings, drawing inspiration from both Wassily Kandinsky's insights on the color blue and Harriet Backer's masterful use of color.
I work physically with large-scale paintings, where pigments—often self-made—are applied in layers, which are then worked on with incisions and textures. The nature surrounding my studio is a key source of inspiration, and for this exhibition, I experiment with round formats and glass as a medium. In collaboration with S12, I have developed works that amplify the expression of blue through the refraction of light and the transparency of glass.
The works are abstract, devoid of explicit narrative, and aim to create an immediate, sensory experience.
